Joseph Crosby Lincoln: The Prolific Pencil: NOW CANCELLED UNTIL A LATER DATE

On Sunday afternoon on March 15, 2020, Jim Coogan will give a lecture on Cape Cod’s most prolific novelist. Brewster-born Joe Lincoln wrote about 40 novels in the first half of the twentieth century. His work was featured in major weekly magazines like the Saturday Evening Post and Colliers. Readers eagerly awaited his yearly offerings that were set in what people remembered as “old Cape Cod. His characters reflected the common sense of a practical and hard working people. Usually salted with a good deal of humor, Lincoln’s stories always had a happy ending. When criticized for this, he said that there was enough sadness in the world and he felt no need to contribute to it. Largely forgotten now in a world of Lee Childs, Robert B. Parker, and David Baldacci, a Lincoln book can be an uplifting experience on a rainy day.

The lecture will be at the Grange Hall at 91 County Lane in East Sandwich at 2:00 p.m. Admission is $5:00 and for that you get a lecture, a cookie, and a cup of coffee.
